Photo Spotlight Killer 064/365March 5, 2011 Portfolio
Composite of 3 photos. Me on the left, Me in the doorway, and another shot of me in the doorway, but a different face. Some textures added, temperature changes, de-warping to fix lens barrel and perspective, etc. I got this idea when I was sitting in my photo studio, looking at pictures on my phone, with all the lights off. I looked up and noticed how the baseboard/trim really stood out from the dark walls around the door. I thought to myself, that would be freaky if someone walked out of the room right now... with a knife. I immediately knew what the final picture would look like. It took probably 10 minutes to get the lights right for my shot in the doorway, I ended up sticking a strip softbox with a grid in the closet in the bedroom, since when the light was coming from the other direction, it was making the wall too bright. The other shot was easier... Strobist: Alienbee B800 to camera left, bare, no modifier, facing me. Another 300w in the kitchen which is to the camera right, facing my case. The light coming from the right also created a lot of light on the wall to the right of the door, but that is edited out since I only wanted the light from the right to effect the light hitting my face. Lights triggered with RadioPopper JrX Lights in the doorway: Strip Softbox with Grid to the right of me in the doorway, with 580ex II. I had another 430ex II on the floor in the room facing up at my in the doorway, but I ended up darkening pretty much everything it was lighting up. COMMENTS |
