Day 6 of Project 365 A photo of me at my computer working. 3x 30" Monitors and my glass desk. Whats in the photo: Mouseover the photo to see notes in flickr. My Process: Wow.. where to begin with this one. This one took 3 1/2 hours, start to finish. 1st hour: Setting up light stands and camera boom. 2nd hour: Not liking the way the photo was coming out, and changing the camera angle until I liked the photo. 3rd hour: Changing light levels and light positions until I liked the result. Last half hour: Merging 3 photos in Photoshop. There actually wasn't much color editing in this photo. Just merging the 3 photos in Photoshop, took about 20 minutes. Strobist Info: Alright, this ones got 4 lights. Two 580ex II's and two 430ex II's. All 4 lights have full blue #3202 gels on them. No modifiers. At first, I started with one behind the monitors, one behind me. One under the desk, then one above me. I ended up changing it last minute to 3 under the desk, and one above me. The light behind the monitors and behind me wasn't doing much, and I really liked the way the desk was glowing from the strobe under it. So I moved 3 lights under the desk. You can see where they are from the hot spot. All 4 lights are at full power since I'm at f/18. This was a 2 second exposure. The lights are lighting the desk, my shirt, and the headphones. The 2 second exposure is lighting the apple logo on the laptop, the 3 monitors and the keyboard backlight. ISO 100, 15mm Fisheye on fullframe 5D Mark II. Flashes triggered by a RadioPopper JrX. The 5D Mark II is connected to a Magic Arm (Manfrotto 244RC Variable Friction Magic Arm with Quick Release Camera Bracket), which is connected to my Manfrotto Heavy Duty Boom Arm. The light over me is connect to a Photoflex Telescopic Litedisc Holder. I LOVE these holders, I have 4 of them. They are strong enough to hold an Alien Bee with umbrella and they are super easy to adjust up and down. Lessons learned... make sure you stands are tightened! One of my lights fell over when I was down stairs getting something. I heard a large bang, I knew something feel and when I got upstairs, my light that was overhead was sitting on my desk. Apparently I didn't tighten the litedisc holder tight enough and it ended up falling over. Luckily, nothing broke. I was very surprised. More photos from this shoot
